(WECT) - American children aren't eating enough fruits and vegetables, especially those living in rural, low income areas, studies show.
Harvard researchers say it's possible to change these poor habits using community and school based intervention programs.
Children in the study program were given daily access to healthier school foods and educated about the importance of diet and exercise.
After two years, they consumed significantly more fruits and vegetables than their peers not in the program and had much lower blood glucose levels.
