CASTLE HAYNE, NC (WECT) – A Wilmington family has been reunited with photos documenting momentous occasions, thanks to a report on WECT and a local treasure hunter.

Grady Cox lives in Castle Hayne. He often collects treasures from a local donation box at a Hardee's near his home, and recently found two SD cards of family photos.

The photos show an 18th birthday party, a graduation, and other family memories.

"The pictures show a lot of closeness in the family, that's why it's important that they get them back," said Cox.

Cox reached out to WECT in an effort to find the owners of the SD cards. Less than 12 hours after the story was reported, the family was identified.

The family said they lost the photos years ago at a restaurant and are very thankful to have them back.

"This is a big deal. For him to go through all the effort, it says a lot," says Joe Owen, the owner of the missing photos.

Becky Owen is looking forward to going down memory lane with her family. One of the photos on the SD cards, is her grandmother's 100th birthday celebration. Her grandmother has since passed away.
