RICHMOND, Va. (October 9, 2013) – UNCW senior Ryan Nagy earned his second CAA Men's Golfers of the Week award this fall after tying for eighth place at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate.

Nagy posted his first top-10 finish of the season and third of his career, to help the Seahawks to a fifth-place team finish at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate at the par 72, 7,358-yard Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C. The senior carded a 74 in the opening round and then responded with a one-under par-71 in the second round. He completed his rally into the top 10 with a two-under par 70 in the final round. Nagy's third round lifted him from 27th into a tied for eighth.

The Seahawks are currently ranked 63rd nationally according to GolfStat.com and 55th by Golf Week. Freshman Trey Guy made the most of his collegiate debut, finishing 15th at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate. UNCW recorded a season-best 51-birdies in the tournament to raise its total to 136 on the season during the Seahawks' #Birdies4Kaitlyn fundraiser.

In other top golf news around the league, College of Charleston freshman William Rainey posted his best finish of his rookie campaign as he finished tied for 21st at the Firestone Invitational. He carded 75-75-69—219 (+3) to lead the Cougars to a tie for 10th place on the par 72, 7,125 yard Firestone Country Club North Course. Rainey's final round score (69) tied his collegiate low in a single round. Delaware senior Dan Costenbader fired a season-low one-over par 71 on the par 72, 7,104-yard Links at Hiawatha Landing, tying for seventh place at the Binghamton Fall Invitational. He led the Blue Hens to a sixth-place team finish at the tournament, which was cut short due to inclement weather.
