Crisp Co., Cairo unbeaten after day one of region softball tourney

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

After day one of the Region 1-AAAA softball tournament, the two teams left unbeaten are the top seeds.

Top-seeded Crisp County took care of Westover, 8-1, in their first game.

The Lady Cougars then shut out Dougherty, 15-0, in game two.

Cairo had no trouble with Albany, trouncing the Squaws, 18-0.

The Lady Makers then took advantage of seven Worth County errors to win 7-1 over the three seed.

Crisp and Cairo will meet in winner's bracket play Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Dougherty outlasted an Americus-Sumter rally, 11-9, before losing to the Cougars.

The Lady Trojans will play Monroe Tuesday. The Lady Tornadoes fell to Worth County in game one, then beat Albany to eliminate the Squaws.

Americus-Sumter is also out after dropping their second game to eighth seed Westover, 9-3.

The Lady Patriots will play Worth County in an elimination game Tuesday.

The tournament continues Tuesday at Albany's Gordon Sports Complex at 4 p.m.
