PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - An update is expected to be given on the animal shelter that was taken over by the Pender County Health Department.
It's been six months since the health department took over animal shelter operations from the sheriff's office.
Health director Carolyn Moser will give an update to commissioners, including results of the latest shelter inspection by the state.
According to a report, several improvements have been made since the last inspections: the shelter has created more exercise yards for the animals, a vet now makes weekly visits to the shelter, and the entire area is cleaner.
