A wet and unsettled period will move in and continue through Wednesday. Monday will be warm and humid with a tropical airmass in place. Showers and thunderstorms are likely. Tuesday and Wednesday will be much cooler with scattered lighter showers. Late in the week skies will clear and some nice fall weather will return.
SUNDAY NIGHT FORECAST: Shower chances will be in the 30% range for tonight with lows in the upper 60's.
MONDAY AND TUESDAY: Rain and thunderstorm chances increase from isolated Monday morning to likely late in the day into Monday night. The approaching cool front has plenty of moisture to work with courtesy of former tropical storm Karen. Rainfall totals should average 1 to 2 inches through early Tuesday. There could even be a small window for a few severe thunderstorms late Monday afternoon into Monday evening. Highs will reach the low 80's
Tuesday will remain unsettled as a mid level low cuts off over the southeast U.S. It will be much cooler behind the front as highs struggle to get over 70. Expect mostly cloudy skies with on and off showers.
MID TO LATE WEEK: Another unsettled day is now likely Wednesday with mostly cloudy skies and more scattered showers. Highs will reach the mid 70's. Nice weather returns Thursday into next weekend as cool high pressure over New England takes control. Each day will be mostly to partly sunny with highs in the mid to upper 70's. Lows through the period will be in the 50's.
TROPICAL OUTLOOK: Tropical depression Karen has dissipated, although some of its moisture will feed showers and thunderstorms over the area early in the week. Elsewhere a tropical wave 500 miles south-southwest of the Cape Verde Islands has a 30% chance of developing over the next 5 days.
