WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A fashion show and gown swap will be held Thursday to raise money for Raising Raiders, a charity that benefits children and spouses of military members.
Raising Raiders was founded by military wives to provide grants that will empower the family members of MARSOC Marines and Sailors. The grants can be used for military spouses who want to continue their education or to help their children with educational opportunities.
In advance of the upcoming United States Marine Corps Birthday Ball, the group is holding this event to give women a chance to find a new gown for the event, without breaking the bank.
Women are encouraged to bring a gown to the event to swap for a new one.
However, those who don't have a gown to swap can also feel free to attend the event, where there will be a fashion show.
The fashion show and gown swap will be held at The Balcony on Dock, Thursday, October 3, at 6:30 p.m.
Heavy hors d'oeuvres will be served, as well as beer and wine.
The group will be raffling off a hotel stay in Wilmington, child care and hair and make up packages.
