WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Families from the Love Grove community returned to city council Tuesday night to continue their push for a second access road into their neighborhood.
City council learned that details for a new road into the area are still more than a month away. In the meantime, city leaders called on staff to form an evacuation plan for the families in Love Grove.
Former councilman Ron Sparks spoke to council, saying it need to happened before another emergency situation hits the community.
A train derailment essentially cut-off Love Grove from the rest of Wilmington earlier in the year.
After speaking inside Tuesday's meeting, more than a dozen people moved their message outside of city hall. Holding signs, they marched up and down Third Street.
