WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A fishing tournament this weekend will benefit a two-year-old girl who is fighting Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).
Stella Menius was diagnosed with Leukemia last year.
The "Fish for a Friend" tournament will help Stella's parents, Luke and Lisa, with her medical bills.
At only two-years-old, Stella is undergoing chemotherapy to treat her cancer at the North Carolina Children's Hospital at UNC-Chapel Hill.
Since Stella started chemotherapy, she has endured several additional hospitalizations due to side effects of her treatment and disease.
"Her treatment and windy road will last up to three years," according to a post about Stella's battle on the tournament website.
The tournament will be held on Saturday, October 5, at Inlet Watch Yacht Club, 801 Paoli Ct, Wilmington.
Prizes will be awarded for those who reel in the top 3 heaviest flounder and heaviest red drum. Plus, there's a prize for those who bring in a flounder that 2.2 lbs., Stella's age (2 years, 2 months).
