Several drivers involved have been sent to the hospital, and a spokesperson for the WPD says that South Front Street to between Greenfield Street and Carolina Beach Road is currently blocked and likely will be for several hours. WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Authorities with the Wilmington Police Department are investigating a crash involving three vehicles and an 18-wheeler, which flipped on its side Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, a tractor trailer ran into the back of another tractor trailer in the 1600 block of South Front Street, causing the road to close for several hours.

The collision then caused a chain reaction with three additional vehicles.

Several drivers involved were taken to the hospital. No serious injuries were reported.

The driver, Jerome Pickens, of South Carolina, will not face charges at this time.
