Hoyer, defense lead Browns to 2nd straight win

Cleveland (WOIO) - Don't look now, but the hottest team in the AFC North is the Cleveland Browns, after another quality start by Brian Hoyer, and another dominating performance by the defense, led them to a 17-6 win over the Cincinnati Bengals at First Energy Stadium on Sunday.

Hoyer likely secured the starting quarterback job by going 25 of 38 for 269 yards, two touchdowns, zero interceptions, and a rating of 103.9. His first quarter touchdown pass to Jordan Cameron put the Browns up 7-0. It was Cameron's fifth TD reception of the season. The Browns would never trail in this game.

Up 7-3 at the half, the Browns finally got on the board again on Billy Cundiff's 51-yd field goal. The Bengals would cut the lead to 10-6 on Mike Nugent's second field goal of the day, but that's all they were going to get.

Hoyer padded the cushion with a one-yard touchdown pass to Chris Ogbannaya with five minutes remaining in the game, and then Buster Skrine sealed the deal with an interception moments later.

Andy Dalton was 23 of 42 for the Bengals, for 206 yards, with one interception.

Cameron finished with 10 receptions for 91 yards, while Joe Haden and company held A.J. Green to 7 catches for 51 yards.

The Browns (2-2) host the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night.
