MECHANICSVILLE, VA (WWBT) - A 76 year old North Carolina man is dead following a three-vehicle crash on I-295 South in Hanover, Virginia.
Police said officers responded to an accident around 2:30 Friday afternoon where a Toyota Camry ran off the road hitting a AAA service truck and a 2009 Toyota Highlander.
They said the Camry's impact with the F-350 service truck caused the service truck to strike the driver of the Highlander, Bobby Hadaway, who was outside of his vehicle. Hadaway died at the scene.
His wife, 71-year-old Carolyn Hadaway was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and is expected to be ok.
The driver of the Toyota Camry suffered serious non-life threatening injuries and was flown by med-flight to VCU Medical Center. A six-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl were taken to the hospital for evaluation. The AAA driver was not injured.
At the time of the crash, the Toyota Highlander was disabled on the left shoulder with a left-rear flat tire and had called for AAA service. The crash remains under investigation. Charges are pending.
