WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The airport in Wilmington will have federal money to make improvements and add additional service.
US Representative Mike McIntyre announced Friday that Wilmington International Airport received $750,000 in federal funds appropriated through the US Department of Transportation Community Air Service Development Program.
According to a news release, $211,000 in local and community matching funds were secured, and 150 local letters of support were written to make a strong public-private partnership.
"Helping ILM improve and add additional air service will be a benefit to travelers and the entire New Hanover County region," said McIntyre in a statement. "These federal and local funds will greatly benefit in that effort. This is a great example of the public-private partnership working together for success. Congratulations to Director Jon Rosborough and all the fine folks at the airport for their work in securing these funds."
