PAL Hoops partners with UNCW student athletes

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Police Athletic League is partnering with University of North Carolina Wilmington students and student athletes to give kids in the Hoops program a chance to meet a mentor who values both athletics and education.

The Police Athletic League Hoops program is teaches kids to play basketball and  also inform them on the dangers of local gangs.

Aerial Chatman is a UNCW track and field star. He says the most dangerous thing for children is idle time. As long as they have a program to be involved in, they will stay on the right track.

The Hoops teams will play the cross-county championship at the Trask Coliseum on the UNCW campus this spring.
