WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The Wilmington International Airport got a big chunk of change Tuesday.
ILM received one million dollars from the federal government for safety improvements. The money is supposed to be used to help ease airplane approaches and departures.
This is a positive step for the airport which has had its share of scares. The sequester forced several smaller airports to close leaving many to think ILM might be on the chopping block, and an airline merger between American Airlines and U.S. Air threatened to increase ticket prices.
