WILMINGTON, NC (WECT)- Wilmington city staff members presented a "master plan" for the Riverfront Park to city council members Monday.
According to the plan, potential ideas for the riverfront include placing a new flagpole near the Market Street centerline, placing an observation deck along the riverwalk, constructing a Venus flytrap planter as scenery, and adding a splashpad play area as well. The plan also features several designs for additional benches to be added along the riverwalk.
According to the plan, expansion to the current riverwalk restrooms will not be possible without flood proofing. The plan states that it would be too expensive to add two additional stalls.
The plan states that the United States Coast Guard will be making bulkhead repairs to the riverwalk in the spring and summer of 2014, and that all park improvements are slated to be complete in September of 2015.
