PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Two suspects were recently arrested, accused of breaking into a vacant home and using it to package heroin, according to a spokesperson with the Pender County Sheriff's Office.
Cory Lamont Howard and Gregory Howard, both of Hampstead, were charged with possession with intent to manufacture sell, or deliver heroin, possession of heroin, manufacture a sch. I controlled substance, breaking and entering and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sheriff's officials say they responded to a breaking and entering in progress Wednesday in the 16800 block of US Highway 17 North Hampstead. Upon arrival, the suspects fled on foot, until authorities chased them and arrested them.
An investigation showed that the suspects had entered the home and were packaging and stamping heroin bindles for sale. Officials found 35 bags of heroin and a large amount of empty heroin bags at the scene scattered along the route the suspects fled on.
Both suspects remain in jail under a $200,000 bond.
