(WECT) - Young women with type two diabetes have an increased risk
of heart disease.
A study of 1,200 pre-menopausal women found plaque build-up in the
carotid arteries shared similarities with type two diabetes, regardless of
their age, blood pressure or smoking history.
To decrease the risk of heart attacks, researchers recommend
screening women with type two diabetes at younger ages, even if they have no
other risk factors.
