David Kim joins UNCW women's basketball staff

UNCW Press Release

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW Head Coach Adell Harris has announced the addition of David Kim to her staff as Director of Women's Basketball Operations.

Kim fills the position formerly held by Jason Eshbaugh before his promotion to assistant coach last summer. He will be responsible for team travel, practice & game schedules, equipment and summer camps. He will also serve as the facilities liaison for women's basketball as well as special events coordinator.

"I'm happy to add David Kim to our staff," said Harris, who is beginning her second season with the program. "I have known David for 10 years. I know we have added a relentless worker, someone who is passionate about the game of basketball and someone who brings a high level of intelligence to this position. He will elevate the performance of our entire staff. His experiences in the Big South, Atlantic 10 and Big East conferences will immediately elevate our programs' day-to-day operations."

Kim joins Harris' staff after three seasons at Seton Hall, where he served in a similar capacity for Head Coach and Naismith Hall-of-Famer Anne Donovan. Kim assisted in the day-to-day operations with the Pirates, including acting as on-site contact for all team travel and organizing practice and shooting times for away games. He also coordinated the end-of-year team banquet, assisted with the Anne Donovan Basketball Camps and managed all film exchange and video operations during the season.

Prior to his work at Seton Hall, Kim spent two seasons as Director of Women's Basketball Operations at Fordham for Head Coach Kathy Andruzzi. Kim began his coaching career at High Point, serving as Director of Women's Basketball Operations before also taking on assistant coaching duties.

As an assistant coach with the Panthers, Kim played a key role in the development of guards and post players as well as assisting in all aspects of recruiting.  He also helped prepare scouting reports, analyzed the skills levels of players and managed and tracked the annual budget while also projecting future budgets. HPU's 2007 squad won the Big South regular season championship and received a WNIT berth, while the 2006 team achieved the highest RPI ranking in school history (#87).

"I am excited to join the UNCW family," said Kim. "I look forward to working with the women's basketball coaching staff and being a part of this great program."

A native of Stamford, Conn., Kim earned his Bachelor's Degree in Analytical Finance from Wake Forest in 2003 and completed his Master's Degree in Sports Studies from High Point in 2006.
