WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Fire officials say a house fire, that happened in the 120 block of Grainger Point Rd. Wednesday, started in the attic, according to a spokesperson for the Wilmington Fire Department.
Crews had the fire under control, thanks to the efforts of six fire companies, and no injuries were reported.
The first crew arrived on scene around 3 p.m. to see smoke and flames coming through the roof.
Originally hosing down flames from the inside, firefighters later went outside to battle the blaze because of a possible roof collapse.
No one was inside the home, and all occupants were later accounted for.
The structure was a total loss at a value of $285,000.
Officials say the fire was accidental.
