NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Less than a week after a judge reinstated Brian Berger to the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners, Berger wants the county to pay for court costs incurred over the past several months.
According to a motion filed Monday in NC Business Court, Berger's attorney is asking "that the court find that the County's action was an abuse of discretion and that attorney's fees and costs are required to be granted."
The exact dollar amount of the attorney fees is not included in the court document.
Berger released a statement after Superior Court Judge James Gale reinstated him to the board. His fellow commissioners added their comments as well. Chairman Woody White said the board will "likely" try to remove Berger from office again.
