A great setup for a football weekend

Good morning!  We've got football-ready weather setting up today, giving us little to no worries for Friday night high school games.  Expect partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies today, with highs reaching the mid-to-upper 80s Upstate, and near 80° in the mountains.  This morning, we saw a few rain showers, though they popped in and out of isolated towns in a matter of minutes.  There is a slight chance for a few more of these pop-up style showers throughout the day, though none of them are expected to turn into a thunderstorm.  By kickoff Friday evening, we'll be seeing temperatures in the low to mid 80s, with a mix of clear sky and clouds.

This weekend, we continue to see a mix of sun and clouds with just a slight chance for a pop up shower.  Saturday's highs will reach the upper 70s to middle 80s.  Sunday, we'll start the day the same way, but as heat builds into the upper 70s and upper 80s by late day, a cold front will approach our area from the north, bringing some unsettled weather.  Showers and thunderstorms will become scattered, especially in the mountains, through the later half of Sunday night.

Following the passage of a cold front, a pattern of slightly cooler and less humid air will emerge for much of next week. The best chance to see shower and storm activity will be Tuesday, otherwise expect mostly dry conditions. The typical summer pattern return for the weekend as heat, humidity and storm chances return.
