A mother in Oklahoma decided to give her 8-year-old son a harsh lesson in tough love after he got into a fight in school over a girl.
Malachi Peterson was forced to hold a neon yellow sign and stand on the side of a Moore, OK, road.
"I have to stand on the street holding a sign that says 'I picked a fight because I'm a bully!'" he told Oklahoma TV station KFOR.
He said he and another boy got into a fight over a girl, saying whoever won would be the girl's boyfriend.
Mother Janie Peterson said she wasn't having any of that.
"I was furious," she told KFOR. "Malachi never actually put a hand on the other boy, because he was the instigator. He told the boy, 'Let's fight.' He's 8 years old, first off. There's no reason for him to get into a fight about a girl right now. Second, assault is assault whether you're eight or 88, and I'm not going to put up with it."
So she decided to make her son stand on the side of the road with the sign, which didn't go unnoticed.
"One person gave me a thumb down, and people have been saying stop the bullying," Malachi said.
Malachi said he thought a lot about the incident while he was standing on the side of the road and said he thinks no one really wins in a fight.
As for what kind of punishment he faced at school, the principal told KFOR he was suspended for three days.
