Officials identify woman shot in Hampstead

Pender County Sheriff Captain Jamie Ezzel has confirmed Oteeshia Brown has been shot at 20512 HWY 17 in Hampstead. Pender County Sheriff Captain Jamie Ezzel has confirmed Oteeshia Brown has been shot at 20512 HWY 17 in Hampstead.

HAMPSTEAD, NC (WECT) – Pender County Sheriff Captain Jamie Ezzel has confirmed Oteeshia Brown has been shot at 20512 HWY 17 in Hampstead.

According to Captain Ezzel, the shooting happened around 10:15 p.m. Thursday.  They say Brenda Garrison shot Brown in the abdomen, after mistaking her for an intruder.

Brown and the homeowner are acquaintances, according to the Pender County Sheriff's Office.

Captain Ezzel says, they believe the shooting was accidental, and at this point, do not expect any charges to be filed.

Brown has been taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for her injuries but they do not appear to be life threatening.
