BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A local group of boy scouts have found a new meeting place after being kicked out of a church in Shallotte.

Some parents in Brunswick County were outraged after Calvary Baptist Church recently cut ties with the scouts, saying they don't have a connection to Christ.

Pastor Joe Needham says the decision had nothing to do with the boy scouts move to let gays in their organization.

After WECT started asking questions, church leaders decided to let the boy scouts to stay, but troop 129 moved anyway and will have their first meeting Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the Coastline Volunteer Rescue Squad Center in Supply.

A representative from the Coastline Rescue Center says they're happy to help any way they can.

"I think we're all excited because the kids get to come here and have their meeting and we can interact with them. They get to see how we work as a rescue squad, so it's really a learning experience for all of us," said Jeffery Solley.

Organizers say this is the first of many, as they hope to form a partnership for years to come.
