The latest trend to hit Craigslist.com is the sale of positive pregnancy tests, oftentimes used for pranks, for anywhere between $20 and $30.
The folks at North Phoenix Pawn see their fair share of unique merchandise coming through their doors.
"We get in taxidermy, we get in animal skins," said Bill Edwards, who works at North Phoenix Pawn. "We even take in dentures."
But Edwards said they haven't seen anything quite as strange as what's popping up on Craigslist.com: ad after ad, selling positive pregnancy tests in Mesa, north Phoenix, Casa Grande - you name it.
"That's something we're just not going to get involved with," Edwards said.
One ad said, "Wanna [sic] play a joke on friends/parents/significant other? I don't care what you do with it, I will take the test the same day you request it."
We reached out to all of the posters and one wrote back, saying while no one's responded to her ad yet, she and her husband have come upon hard times and need to afford food and baby supplies.
"It may not be the right thing to do, but we need money," she said.
"We are handling them with gloves, we have these bio-hazard bags," said urologist Mark Hong. He said they're extremely careful when handling urine samples and doesn't recommend buying or selling tests online, no matter how funny the prank may be.
"You've got bacteria, you've got viruses, frankly even sexually transmitted diseases can be carried in the urine," Hong said.
It is against Craigslist.com's policies to sell any medical devices or bodily fluid but it's unclear whether the posts will be removed.
