CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) – Several businesses in the area used the Labor Day weekend to generate one final sales boost before the end of the summer season.
Multiple spots along the Carolina Beach Boardwalk said the weekend provided an added sales boost, including ice cream parlor, Krazy Kone. Sydney Sutton, an employee there, said the sales increase was noticeable.
"Friday night started out a little slow because people were still getting in, but it picked up over the weekend," said Sutton.
Across the boardwalk at CB Henna, employees thought the holiday weekend put a good cap on the summer's business.
"It's been awesome. We've been really busy," said Casey Nicholson, an employee at the tattoo shop. "I don't how to really it explain it. We've just been slammed a lot."
Lou Belo, owner of the Fudgeboat, said the business had a good season, but she's ready for a break.
"It starts off fun, and then you get weary," said Belo. "But it is fun you know. It's seasonal. You know there's a light at the end of the tunnel."
The businesses will now switch to reduced hours because of the end of the summer season.
