PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A 72-year-old man has been charged in an accident that left one person dead after hitting two utility workers at Hwy. 17 and Sloop Point Loop Rd. Tuesday.
According to Trooper Casteen, with Highway Patrol, Floyd Edward Osborne, of Wilmington, entered the right lane, but didn't plan on turning right when the accident happened.
Jereme Alan Holt, 40, of Burlington, was killed in the accident. He was working for Templar, Incorporated, which is a company that does fiber optic installations.
The other victim refused treatment, but is okay.
Police said workers had vests on and cones set up in their work area for visibility.
According to Trooper Casteen, Osborne is being charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and lane violation.
