Car break-ins up in Perrysburg neighborhoods

PERRYSBURG, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Carthefts are up across Perrysburg, and police want residents to know how toprotect their property and prevent more break-ins.

Policesay most of the thefts are occurring at night. Someone is stealing credit cardsand expensive GPS equipment, but police say it can be prevented with a fewsimple steps: Keep doors locked and never leave valuables out in the open forpeople to see.

Theyalso want to remind residents that just because they may not see crime in theirneighborhood, that doesn't mean it's not happening.

"Idon't care where you live, because we've lived in Toledo for many years and we'velived here now for many years," said concerned resident Mary Mills. "We alwayslock our doors, we lock our cars. We even lock our cars inside the garage, justfor extra precaution. I think you can never be too safe or too careful."

Thepolice say vehicle thefts are tough to solve, so they need residents to helpkeep a closer eye on what's going on in their community.
