LELAND, NC (WECT) - Around 8 a.m. Monday, a wreck involving a 1992 Toyota and a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe caused major traffic delays on Hwy 17 South near Zion Church Rd in Brunswick County.
According to a Trooper King, the Chevrolet Tahoe hit the back of the Toyota on the southbound lane. Both cars were carrying children and were heading to school. One lane was temporally closed until crews cleared the scene.
An 11-year-old boy was taken to the hospital for evaluation and is expected to be OK.
According to King, a Good Samaritan passing by took the rest of the children to school, and they made it to their first day on time.
The driver of the Chevrolet will be charged with failure to reduce speed.
