PHOENIX,AZ (WECT) -- The Arizona Cardinals might have lost first-round draft pick Jonathan Cooper for the Season.
The former Hoggard Viking broke his left leg in the third quarter the Cardinals preseason game against the San Diego Chargers.
A player was blocked into Cooper's leg while the guard was running down the field trying to make a block. Cooper, who was the 7th overall pick, couldn't put any weight on the leg after the injury and had to be helped off the field.
"We're all hurting. It's territory we are familiar with and we wish it didn't happen" said center Lyle Sendlein.
After the game Cardinals Coach Bruce Arians said there remains hope Cooper could come back later on in the season. The team still has options, they can place him on the injured reserve ending his season, or the injured reserve/designated for return.
