BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A deputy with the Brunswick County Sheriff'sOffice has been arrested and is now facing several charges.
The sheriff's office drug enforcement unit arrestedTimothy Paul Caulder, from Shallotte. He's facing two charges of solicitingcrimes against nature, two counts of soliciting prostitution and one count ofwillfully failing to discharge duties.
The charges stem from a two week internalinvestigation by the department's internal affairs division that referred theinvestigation to drug investigators.
According to arrest warrants, Deputy Caulder solicited the samewoman on two separate occasions in the month of August. According to the BrunswickCounty Sheriff's Office, the woman listed in the arrest warrants was notcharged.
"We, as law enforcement officers, arenot above the law. We will not tolerate anyone from this agency to abusetheir position," Sheriff John Ingram said in a statement released lateFriday afternoon.
The sheriff's office fired him immediately.He was hired as a detention center deputy in December 2011 and he is now on theother side of the cell, under a $2,500 bond.
