Guerilla Theatre performs 'Dog Sees God' at the Brown Coat Pub & Theatre.
'Dog Sees God' runs through Sept. 1 at the Brown Coat Pub & Theatre.
WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Guerilla Theatre's new show takes a look at what the Peanuts gang might be like when they grow up.
The company is performing Dog Sees God, which is loosely based on characters like Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus and Schroeder. Except now the kids are in high school and facing things like peer pressure, bullying, identity crisis and eating disorders.
"Here's these American kids that you saw growing up, and now here they are after America's had their way with them a little bit," said actor Joshua Bailey.
Throughout the play the characters will still evoke some laughter, but their underlying message is strong.
"It'll make you laugh," said Bailey. "It'll make you think. I think it'll challenge a lot of people's perspectives, especially people who maybe think they go through their daily lives and they're not bad people even though they allow bad things to happen around them. It's going to pull people in with the humor, but also the absolute emotional truth of seeing the realities of what's happening in a high school."
