WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Kevin Ward isn't one to skimp on a tip.
"I've actually been remembered quite a few times."
Remembered for leaving Lincoln's. Not a five dollar bill, but hand-drawn caricatures of the 16th President. Ward leaves them, along with cash, almost every time he visits a restaurant.
"Oh it completely brightens my day," said Logan Bills, a server at Kickback Jack's. "As you get that it's just like, ahhh, there's good people out there that just want to make your day, just to make you smile"
For Ward it all started with a trip to Orlando. While waiting for his food Kevin started to doodle on the paper tablecloth
"I had Lincoln on the brain because I had just read an article about how Lincoln was one of the most recognized faces in America," said Ward.
Now, his likeness is popping up at eateries across Wilmington and the world.
"I have a friend in England that wants one." Ward said. "I guess he's pretty popular everywhere."
The drawings even have their own Facebook page to chronicle their travels with stops at amusement parks, ball games, even the Lincoln memorial with hopes of finding their way inside the current President's residence.
"I would love that and I'd be very honored if it did but you know I'm not counting on it. I'm sure the president gets tons of stuff everyday, but you never say never."
