Officials: Missing person drowns, no foul play suspected

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Sheriff's deputies found the body of a reported missing person Wednesday morning in a creek off of the Intracoastal Waterways in Pender County.

According to Pender County Sheriff Carson Smith, Amanda Perkins was reported missing from Circle Drive in Hampstead early Wednesday morning.

Deputies learned Perkins had gone out on her paddle board and began to search the Washington Acres Community.

Preliminary autopsy results say Perkins drowned. Smith said no foul play is suspected at this point, but detectives are still investigating.
