BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) -
A Bladen County man is headed to prison after he pleaded guilty to shooting his brother in 2013.
According to officials, Tony Elmore Lewis, 55, of Elizabethtown, entered a guilty plea Monday in Bladen County Superior Court to one count of attempted first-degree murder. He was sentenced to 10 to 13 years in prison.
On Aug. 13, 2013, deputies were dispatched to the scene of a shooting at a home in the 90 block of Curtis Lewis Road around 5 p.m. Upon arrival, they found the victim, Terry Devane Lewis of Dublin, in the front yard with a shotgun wound to his stomach.
Tony, who was inside the home, refused to come out. After the Robeson County Sheriff's Office tactical team arrived and used tear gas inside the home, Tony surrendered around 8 p.m.
Terry Lewis was rushed to the New Hanover County Medical Center and underwent treatment that saved his life.
