TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -
A crime of cruelty and opportunity. Toledo police are looking for a suspect who robbed a man while he was having a medical emergency. It happened Monday at the corner of Bancroft Street and Holland-Sylvania Road in west Toledo.
The victim was walking to a bus stop when he started having a seizure. He thought the man approaching him was coming to help, but instead, robbed him.
The victim says he is thankful to be alive today. He said he recognized the robber and had even given him money in the past, only to have the thief return his kindness by snatching his wallet and more than $600.
"I was thinking to myself, ‘I know I'm about to get hurt.' Because I wasn't strong enough to resist anything. So, I'm thinking, you know, it's gonna be a while before they probably find my body or something, because I'm probably going to be on the side of the curb. You know, things like that happen," said the victim, who does not wish to be identified.
Fortunately, the victim was not injured.
