People were up in arms over a T-shirt sold at The Children's Place. The company received so many comments, they decided to pull it from store shelves.
The T-shirt says "My Best Subjects" and has a checklist of shopping, dancing, music and math.
Math is the only box not checked and then has the words "Well, nobody's perfect" underneath it.
The Facebook page of the store is littered with comments from disgusted parents saying they will no longer spend money there.
"Shame on The Children's Place. Shirts that proclaim girls' inabilities have no place in any child's closet. Looks like the company is having difficulty with the 21st Century," wrote Lara Trubowitz on the company's Facebook page.
Tracy Johnston Zager wrote, "Count me as another furious ex-customer. The anti-math girls' T-shirt is horrible. Please pull it and educate yourselves. We will not be back unless we see a serious change."
And Janeen Brown wrote, "I'm so disappointed in your "My Best Subject" T-shirt. How belittling to young girls to send them the message that they should continue the myth that women are meant to be dumb consumers. My FOUR daughters are intelligent, brave and powerful! Their best subjects are mathematics, science and history - which they are not doomed to repeat and will not be wearing your clothing."
These are just three comments out of the flood of hundreds that continue to pour onto the page.
The Children's Store responded to the criticism on Monday evening with the following post on their Facebook page:
"We take feedback from our customers very seriously. It has come to our attention that some of you view our Best Subjects T shirt as insensitive towards girls and women. This was not our intent. There are countless women in all walks of life who excel in math, including our very own CEO. We have pulled this product from our stores and we want to express our apologies to anyone we may have offended."
