Public assistance and food stamps are words that draw strong reactions from both sides of the aisle.  Whether you agree with the programs or not, I hope we can all agree that we should keep our promises.

Here's the problem.  The North Carolina system for offering this type of assistance is not keeping its promise.  Our news team has uncovered how countless numbers of people are affected by issues with their computer system and are now NOT getting the food stamp assistance they are qualified to receive.

This type of assistance is there for a reason…because people need the help.  Now they're going weeks without it.  These people are suffering and government officials are telling us they're frustrated as well.  But where's the outrage?  Who is stepping up to help these folks?

Sounds like the folks running this system need a little more urgency cutting through the red tape.  Maybe someone overseeing that group can figure out how to cut off their food supply until they can start finding solutions.

That's my turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment, or anything else, email me at yourturn@wect.com.
