NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Two suspects were cited Tuesday, accused of running an illegal sweepstakes parlor, according to a spokesperson for the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office.

Andela Jewel Brewer, 47, and Nicole L. Strickland-Johnson, 41, were charged with promoting, operating, or conducting a server-based electronic game promotion.

The citations came after authorities with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office Vice/Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at the Capital One Reward Zone, located in the 5030 block of Market Street in Wilmington.

There, detectives seized computers, operating systems and more than $2,400 in cash.

Depending on the outcome of the case, the cash could go to the NC education system.
