WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Wilmington Hammerheads hosted their 11th annual Inner City Youth Soccer Camp on Tuesday at Legion Stadium.
The camp brought together more than 100 kids from area Boys and Girls clubs for a day of soccer and food.
"It's nice to see the kids just sort of light up when they get it." Cody Arnoux said. "Not all of these kids have played this game before, they've all kicked a ball but that's about it."
Arnoux grew up in Wilmington and attended New Hanover high school.
"I wasn't the fastest or the tallest so soccer gave me an opportunity." Arnoux said. "I can only hope it gives at least one of these kids the same opportunities it's given me."
The camp teaches kids the skills of the game including dribbling, passing, and the importance of fitness.
