The Coast Guard says a man died after jumping off a sinking boat in Friday afternoon.
The Coast Guard responded to a call for a sinking boat in Lake Erie near Euclid on Friday, July 26 at 3:45 p.m.
According to officials, the boat's operator attempted to stop the boat from sinking, but the boat's control system unresponsive. The other passenger on the boat jumped off into the water to escape.
Rescue crews later found the 60-year-old passenger floating face down, unconscious.
Paramedics worked to revive him, and he was rushed to Metro Health Center where he was pronounced dead.
No word on the condition of the boat's operator.
Officials say it's not apparent what caused the boat's system to fail.
