NORTH TOPSAIL BEACH, NC (WECT) – Officers with the North Topsail Beach Police Department are investigating a possible double fatal stabbing that happened Thursday night.
According to WITN, Willa-Jo Greene was watching the moon rise around 10:30 p.m. on the beach along Ocean Drive when a woman ran up to her covered in blood.
"She said, 'My husband, we just got married - he's dead,'" said Greene.
According to the police, officers responded to the beach strand between Ocean Drive and Village Stump Sound and found two deceased men on the sand. Their names have not yet been released.
The town manager of North Topsail Beach said the men were in their upper 20's or lower 30's and were apparently fighting with knives.
Officers from the Surf City and Holly Ridge Police Department responded to the initial call. The Onslow County Sheriff's Office is assisting with the investigation.
Authorities said they do not believe there is an imminent threat to the safety of the citizens and guests regarding this case.
According to the North Topsail Beach Police Department, officers are not actively searching for any suspects at this time, but if anyone with information regarding the case is asked to contact police at (910) 328-0042 or the Onslow County Sheriff's Office at (910) 455-3113.
