Officers in VA investigate death in parking lot

HOPEWELL, VA (WECT) – Officers with the Hopewell Police Department in Virginia are trying to learn more about the death of a man found in their parking lot around 12:15 Thursday morning.

Hopewell Police said EMS pronounced Wilber Price dead at the scene after a citizen found him in the parking lot and told officers.

According to police, Price died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. There were no witnesses, and no one heard a weapon being fired. They believe he had been in the parking lot for five minutes or less.

The Pender County Sheriff's Office told Hopewell Police Price is a suspect in an active homicide investigation in Rocky Point.

The Hopewell Police Department's Criminal Investigations Unit continues to investigate this death and is working with Pender County North Carolina Sheriff investigators to assist in their active homicide investigation.
