GREENVILLE, NC (WECT) – Jacen Murphy's college career at East Carolina is not starting the way he wanted. The former New Hanover Wildcat will miss the upcoming season after tearing his ACL and LCL.
Murphy suffered the injury while running routes this past weekend. "I hit a table on the sideline running a corner. My knee bent the opposite way it goes" said Murphy.
As a senior Murphy did it all for the Wildcat, he played receiver, running back, and defensive back. Murphy had scholarship offers on the table, but decided to attend ECU as a preferred walk-on.
Surgery to repair his knee is scheduled for Friday.
