Rain today could lead to history making!

If we get a drop of rain in the GSP rain gauge, we will have officially had the wettest July on record in the Upstate.  We've already broken that record in the mountains (previously it was July of 1984).  Between now and Thursday I think we have a good shot of a little rain passing through Greer!

A cold front is passing through this afternoon and evening, and it will act as a focusing mechanism for showers and storms.  Best chance for storms will be from now through 9pm tonight, then most of the activity should shift eastward.  Damaging winds could occur in some of the stronger storms this afternoon, otherwise heavy rain and lightning will be the primary threats.

Thursday and Friday will bring isolated, pop-up storms each afternoon.  Temps will cool a bit behind the front, bringing highs down to the mid 80s for the Upstate by Friday and upper 70s for the mountains.  Not too shabby as we head into Bele Chere this weekend!

Thursday, like Wednesday, will feature a rare-for-summer 0% rain chance for much of the day. Classic summertime pop-up storm chances will return for Friday and the holiday weekend, though, as the "Bermuda High" brings a more typical hot and humid pattern.
