BALD HEAD ISLAND, NC (WECT) – Some passengers ready to board the Bald Head Island ferry were delayed for hours Tuesday while service was temporarily suspended.
According to a spokesperson for the ferry, Joyce Fuller, shoaling has been happening in and around the area where the ferry docks at Bald Head Island, and in response, ferry officials temporary suspended ferry runs during low tide.
Fuller says that due to the recent wind conditions, they have not been able to dredge the area, which has allowed the sand to accumulate. Once weather conditions improve, they will dredge, and everything will be back to normal.
