WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A Wilmington man was sentenced to 10 years in prison Monday following his guilty plea to heroin charges, according to a spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Justice.
In addition to prison time, Avery Muldrow, 23, was sentenced to a life term of supervised release.
Muldrow pleaded guilty in March to four counts of distribution of a quantity of heroin.
Between September and October 2012, authorities with the FBI and New Hanover County Sheriff's Office made three controlled purchases of heroin from Muldrow.
Muldrow was arrested in January of this year on a federal warrant following a traffic stop, and he handed cocaine and heroin to a passenger in the car just before his arrest.
When executing a search warrant where Muldrow had been staying, law enforcement officials recovered heroin, cocaine, a rifle, a handgun and a revolver.
