CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) – A recently demoted police officer in Carolina Beach will remain at his new rank, according to the beach town's human resources department.
Anthony Marcucilli, now a sergeant, appealed his demotion from captain earlier this month. The decision was upheld at an appeal hearing with Carolina Beach's interim town manager.
While Marcucilli has been demoted two ranks, his pay remains the same as it was when he was a captain, according to town leaders.
A second officer, Chris Chafin, appealed his termination from the department. His hearing has been rescheduled to next Monday.
Chafin told town leaders he did not receive a notice for his initial hearing scheduled for last Friday, according to Carolina Beach's interim HR consultant.
