ONSLOW COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A state trooper's vehicle flipped Saturday afternoon while he was chasing a motorcyclist, according to WITN.

The chase started in Pender County, where Trooper R.D. Hendrickson attempted to stop the motorcycle's driver, and continued into Onslow County on Hwy. 210, east of Shaw Highway, officials say.

There, the motorcyclist slowed down for other traffic. The trooper braked, but the back of his vehicle slid around, causing him to run off the road, hit a ditch, crash into a telephone pole wire and flip.

The motorcyclist, 20–year-old Tyson Payton, stopped and was arrested by uninjured troopers.

Payton was charged with driving 92 miles per hour in a 55-miles-per-hour zone and careless and reckless driving. He posted bond and has since been released from the Pender County Jail.
